Nine Days of Creation Acrylic on Wood Panel $5,000.00 Nine Days of Creation has changed quite a bit since its initial conception. When I first learned of the theme, I focused on icons for peace, birds/doves, but as I continued other themes seemed to take over the process. I found myself reading stories about Pandora's jar of evils, and pouring over reproductions of classic paintings of truth, beauty, and justice. I scrolled through photos from my recent travels through Hawaii where I took notice of the abundance of the Polynesian spiral designs representative of creation and life. I decided to combine these ideas for my icon. From Pandora's story I was interested in her frightened attempt to close the jar of evils, trapping the last thing inside, humanity's hope. Hope was the only element that could balance the rampant evils she released. She then had to reopen her jar to allow hope to escape. This icon is an attempt at representing a conglomeration of these basic and pure human essentials, the creation of hope, peace, and justice spiraling outward for humanity to take hold. 501_766_1268
